In this picture I am sitting in the door of the Cockroft-Walton Accelerator at Fermilab.

This is where the protons at Fermilab start. This little room contains a bottle of hydrogen (which is an electron and a proton). From here, the protons are accelerated through a series of machines. When they reach high energies, the protons are used to make particle beams for MiniBooNE and the other Fermilab Experiments.
