Travel Information and Directions Flying to BostonWe assume that most of you will be flying to Boston's Logan International Airport. If you surf the web for low fares and are tempted to save a few bucks by flying to Manchester, NH and renting a car - don't do it. Manchester is far away. You won't save money or time. And don't even consider renting a car from Logan. Use public transportation or take a cab. MIT's website has useful information on getting to MIT. Click around to find all the information you'll need. Visit: http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?section=directions The Accommodations page has a map that will orient you as well. Public Transportation"The T and the Charlie Pass"The formal name for Boston's public transportation system may be the MBTA, but locals call it "The T." This system operates subway lines, bus lines, and other public tranportation systems around Boston and Cambridge area. The closest subway station to MIT is Kendall MIT on the Red Line. You can find the subway map, schedules, and fares at the MBTA's website. We recommend that you purchase a "Charlie Pass" for the week. You can choose the amount. The fee for riding the subway one-way has just gone up to $1.70. Discounts are offered for week passes. You can purchase a Charlie Ticket at the machines located at each stop. Prepare to be a little confused at first, but you'll get the hang of it all by in a day or two.
Now that you are hereMost of you will arrive to the MIT campus via the Kendall Square T-stop. As you exit the subway, you will be on Main Steet, right across from the Coop bookstore. To get to building 26 (as an example) enter campus through the passage next to 60 Vassar street, turn left where the passage dead-ends, walk 100 yards to the passage between two buildings (directly in front of you at this point). Building 26 is on the left. ![]() During the workshop days, almost all sessions will take place in Building 26. A map showing both Building 26 and the Kendall T-stop is shown here. For Friday, we will be located in Building 1. See our campus map for directions. Finally, for Saturday and Sunday we will be in Building 32, also known as the Stata Center (the building that kind of looks like out of a comic book/Esher painting).
