The experimental high energy group at MIT invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate to work on the CMS experiment at CERN. Our group is very active in the preparations for data taking and subsequent discoveries at the LHC. We play the leading role in distributing CMS data around the globe within the data operations group, we are an integral component of the commissioning and operation of the silicon tracker at the experiment, and we are responsible for key elements of the data acquisition system. At MIT we operate a “Tier-2” computer center, providing resources for data analysis both locally and as part of the Grid.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in the analysis of the first physics data from LHC and will contribute substantially to one or more of the areas of MIT's operational activities.
REQUIREMENTS: a physics Ph.D. with interest and experience in high energy physics. The candidate should have a strong background in analysis, computing and data acquisition. The candidate will be stationed at CERN.
