The Heavy-Ion Group at the MIT Laboratory of Nuclear Science invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. Our group has a leading role in the preparations for the heavy ion component of the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, which is expected to start data taking 2008.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. and preferably a background in nuclear physics or high energy physics. The successful candidate will play a major role in the preparations for CMS data taking and the analysis of the first CMS p+p and Pb+Pb data. Our group is responsible for the High Level Trigger operation in CMS heavy-ion running and is operating a CMS Tier-2 computing facility at MIT. Consequently, candidates should have a strong background in software development and large-scale computing.
