LABORATORY FOR NUCLEAR SCIENCE
MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Posted: 02/28/08

Job number: MIT-00005143

The Laboratory for Nuclear Science (LNS) at MIT invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in accelerator physics. There are currently opportunities to participate in research addressing a number of important issues related to the development of future accelerators for the study of the fundamental structure of matter. These opportunities include: the design of an experiment to provide a first demonstration of the technique of optical stochastic cooling; implementation of fast spin flip at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider; development of a high intensity polarized electron source demanded by the future Electron Ion Collider. The research will utilize the considerable expertise and resources at MIT's Bates Linear Accelerator Center and will involve collaboration between MIT-LNS researchers and other laboratories.

A Ph.D. in experimental physics is required with experience in accelerator physics preferred. Please send a curriculum vitae, publication list, and three letters of recommendation to:
